Chess with two secret pawns

Rules

Choose two

Choose two of your eight starting pawns. Neither player can see which pawns the other chose until they are revealed. Your choices last for the game.

Move like a king, too

Secret pawns keep their normal moves and can also move or capture one square in any direction. Your king must stay safe.

When secrets are revealed

A secret pawn reveals when it uses an extra move, gives check with its extra power, blocks an otherwise safe king move to an empty square, or is captured. Revealed pawns keep their extra moves.
